How much does venetian and polished plaster cost?
Venetian and polished plaster costs £90 to £220 per square metre. A feature wall is typically £900 to £2,200 and a bathroom in tadelakt £2,500 to £6,000. Preparation of the wall behind it is a separate and unavoidable cost.

Ask for a sample board made in the actual room and looked at in its actual light. The same material reads completely differently under a north window and under a downlight.
What moves the price
- The finish. Marmorino is fewer coats than a true polished Venetian; tadelakt is sealed with soap and is the most labour of the three.
- Number of coats, which is set by the depth of colour wanted rather than by the area.
- Preparation of the substrate, because a two millimetre finish hides nothing.
- Colour. A deep or unusual colour needs more passes to build.
- Area, but inversely: a small feature wall carries the setup cost of a large one.

How long does it take?
Three to six thin coats with drying and burnishing between, so a feature wall is two to four days rather than one. The burnishing is what makes the finish and it cannot be rushed.
Does the wall need to be perfect first?
Yes. The finish is under two millimetres, so every hollow, joint and patch behind it reads through under a side light. Preparation is most of the cost of a good job.
