How much does silicone and monocouche render cost?
Silicone and monocouche render costs £60 to £95 per square metre including scaffold, against £45 to £75 for sand and cement. A typical semi runs £6,000 to £11,000. The premium buys a finish that does not need painting.

Ask for the system name and the topcoat, not just 'silicone render'. The manufacturers publish their own guarantees and the applicator has to be registered with them for the guarantee to mean anything.
What moves the price
- Which system. Monocouche is one coat and cheaper; a basecoat, mesh and silicone topcoat is three operations.
- The state of the wall. Thin-coat needs a sound flat substrate, so patching or a levelling coat is extra.
- Colour. Standard colours come off the shelf; a match to an existing elevation is a special batch.
- Scaffold, a fixed cost of £700 to £1,400 on a semi however much wall is being done.
- Detailing around windows, sills and the damp proof course, which is where the labour goes.

Can it go over existing render?
Yes, if what is there is sound and well keyed. Tap the wall first. Anything hollow has to come off, and if enough of it is hollow the job becomes a hack-off and a different price.
Does it crack?
The mesh in the basecoat is there to stop it, and a properly meshed system rarely cracks across the field. Cracks at window corners usually mean the mesh was not carried diagonally across the reveal, which is a workmanship question rather than a material one.
