How much do crack and patch repairs cost?
Plaster repairs are charged by time: £150 to £220 for a half day and £260 to £450 for a full day. Most single patches and cracks are a half day job. Making good a full wall after a chase or a removal is usually a full day.

Save repairs up and have them done in one visit. Two half days on separate weeks costs more than one full day and gets less done.
What moves the price
- The half day minimum, which applies however small the repair is.
- How many separate repairs there are. Six patches in one visit cost far less than six visits.
- Depth. A shallow skim repair is quicker than one that needs a backing coat built up first.
- Access, and whether it is at height or behind something that has to be moved.
- Whether the cause has been dealt with, because repairing a live crack is paying twice.

Why does my crack keep coming back?
Because something is still moving. Seasonal shrinkage in a new-build settles within a year or two. A crack that follows a diagonal, widens at one end or reopens every winter is worth looking at properly before more money goes into filling it.
Can one wall be replastered without doing the room?
Yes, and it is common after a fireplace or a chimney breast comes out. Expect a visible difference in flatness and suction against the old walls, which usually shows up when the paint goes on rather than before.
