Edinburgh plasterer
William Bain & Sons Ltd
Trading since the early 1960s, so the firm predates most of the housing it works on. Lime and decorative plaster alongside ordinary skimming. Good fit for a tenement flat with a cornice worth keeping.

Lime on solid walls, run cornice, ceiling roses, and casting to match what survives.
Edinburgh's stock is overwhelmingly pre-1919 sandstone. On those walls gypsum is impermeable where the wall was built to breathe, and the moisture it holds back comes out somewhere else. A firm working in lime is the right material rather than a flourish.
