About McAteer Plastering
McAteer Plastering is a fourth generation family company of stuccodores, owned by Jim McAteer. The firm specialises in traditional lime plastering and limecrete flooring, and works in Belfast, Antrim and Randalstown, in County Antrim.
Its work covers plaster lath ceiling repairs and stabilisation, cornice and moulding repair, interior and exterior in-situ cornicing, ornate plasterwork made new or to match existing, lime and stucco render finishes, fibrous plasterwork, and free-hand decorative plasterwork and modelling. It also produces external mouldings in Roman cement, plasters new build houses inside and out in modern and traditional styles, and offers consultancy on the restoration and conservation of plasterwork. Restoration and conservation jobs are a regular part of the work, including listed buildings.
Jim McAteer has over 35 years of experience in solid and decorative plastering and works with his father James, who has over 60 years of experience, and his son Daniel. The business uses mobile roll pan lime mixers, which it describes as the only ones in Northern Ireland. It stocks natural hydraulic lime, lime putty and putty mortars, limewashes, laths and goat, horse and synthetic fibre for mortar, and hires out fast-tow roll pan mixers.
