About Ayres Plastering
Ayres Plastering is a plastering business run by Alec in Macclesfield, Cheshire, Derbyshire, South Manchester and Stoke. The business carries out lime plastering, decorative plastering, modern gypsum plastering and external renders. Lime plastering work includes breathable finishes that are salt-tolerant and sympathetic to historic fabric. Decorative services cover insitu mouldings, cornices, restoration and bespoke details. Modern gypsum plastering provides clean, sharp skims and plasterboard finishing for modern homes, extensions and refurbishments. External renders use NHL and lime render systems with traditional finishes.
Recent work shown includes lath and plaster ceilings with three-coat non-hydraulic lime plaster in listed buildings, lime repairs, insulated lime plastering with warmcoat and topcoat, and lime plastering with timber steaming and bending for decorative features. Jobs have been completed in Mobberley, Congleton, Bollington, Crewe, Ruthin in Wales and Sandbach. Materials are sourced from specialist lime suppliers. Work involves site preparation, removal of old renders and plaster, application of undercoats and finishing coats, and protection of windows, doors and surrounding areas during the process. Hessian is used over undercoats in external work to allow proper curing.
