About Artisan Surface Design
Artisan Surface Design is a family-run decorative plaster business based in Ware, Hertfordshire. It applies Venetian Plaster, Microcement, Tadelakt, Polished Concrete, Clay Plasters, Liquid Metal, Lime Wash and Gilded Metal Leaf to walls, ceilings and architectural features in homes, restaurants, bars, galleries and commercial spaces. The business also undertakes commissioned artwork, microcement furniture and decorating services.
The business works across London, including Highgate, Hampstead, Islington, Notting Hill and Crouch End, as well as projects throughout East and South London. In Hertfordshire, it works in St Albans, Harpenden, Radlett, Bishop's Stortford and Cuffley, along with surrounding towns and villages, and takes on projects across the wider Home Counties and beyond.
Artisan Surface Design is led by Ciarán and Angela. Each project begins with a discovery phase to explore possibilities and understand materials. Design consultation covers finishes, aesthetics and practical considerations. Substrate assessment and preparation guidance are provided, and colour matching is available to RAL references or physical samples. Samples and mock-ups are produced before installation. During installation, the business provides project management support and problem-solving for complex substrates and challenging conditions. Long-term care and aftercare guidance is offered after handover. The business works with homeowners, interior designers, architects, contractors and fit-out companies on residential and commercial projects including new builds, refurbishments, renovations and bathrooms.
